Caught - Chorley fraudster Pamela Gwinnett arrested at Manchester Airport
The Adlington fraudster has been nicknamed the Black Widow.
A Chorley fraudster and fugitive who fled to Tenerife after stealing more than £300,000 from an elderly woman while working at a local nursing home, will appear in court today after being arrested at Manchester Airport.
Pamela Gwinnett, known as the Black Widow, was arrested by officers last night after returning to the UK to face justice for her crimes.

She was found guilty in 2025 of defrauding Chorley widow Joan Green out of almost £300,000 while she was employed as her caregiver. But Gwinnett fled her home in Greenfield Road, Adlington for the Canary Islands in April 2025 to evade justice.
She was convicted and sentenced to six years in prison in her absence in October 2025, for a number of offences including fraud by abuse of position and theft. At a subsequent Proceeds of Crime hearing, an order for £300,000 was granted.
Her arrest comes after a meticulous investigation when she fled the UK for Tenerife in 2025 to evade authorities.

Officer in charge of the investigation, PC Georgia Loughton, said: “This result is the culmination of a tenacious investigation ensuring that we secured justice for the family of the victim at the centre of this case.
“Work to convict Gwinnett and her evading justice has been ongoing for quite some time. We were relentless in our commitment to bring her back to the UK, where she will now serve her term in prison.”

“Unfortunately, the victim in this case sadly passed away in 2022. Gwinnett’s actions have denied the victim’s family closure – we hope some from of closure comes from this result.”

Clare Meehan from the NCA’s National Extradition Unit added: “Pamela Gwinnett abused her position as a caregiver to commit serious fraud offences against a vulnerable woman.
“Since she fled the UK, the NCA has worked closely with Greater Manchester Police and our law enforcement partners in Spain to secure her return to face justice.
“We continue to operate around the world to ensure there is no place to hide for fugitives from UK justice.”
She is due in court today.
