The force said the home grow set up has been dismantled and the man will be attending an interview at a later date.

A police spokesman said: "Further details can’t be given at this time as it is still in the early part of the investigation and enquiries are still on going."

But PCSO Fern Jones, responding to the Post's enquiries, added: "The reality is not quite as exciting. It was a great set up, but not many plants!"

The neighbourhood policing team said the grower had hung a vanilla-scented car air freshener from the home's letter box in a bid to mask its distinctive smell.

On social media, the force shared their discovery and quipped: "Despite this self-proclaimed "green thumb" resident attempting to mask the overwhelming smell of cannabis coming from his property with a vanilla mighty oak car air freshener, police were still able to locate the set up and it has been dismantled."
