Blackpool man who downloaded 123 indecent child images in Preston

A pervert who had hundreds of indecent images of children has been given six months in jail, suspended for 18 months.

Martin Baxendale, 66, now of Palatine Road, Blackpool, committed the offences in Preston over a two year period, Preston Magistrates’ Court heard.

He admits making 123 indecent photographs and possessing 11 at category A - the most serious - with 29 at category B, 57 at category C, and extreme animal images.

The bench said the defendant had accessed help and intervention and that the offences were committed “at a time of isolation and when the defendant had domestic responsibilities”.

Baxendale got a rehabilitation activity requirement and must do 150 hours of unpaid work.

He must also pay a £128 victim surcharge, and £85 costs and was ordered to sign the Sex Offender’s Register for seven years.

The bench ordered the images and associated devices to be destroyed.
