Bamber Bridge rush hour drink driver gets five year ban

A woman who was found to be more than four times the legal alcohol limit after a crash that happened during rush hour has been banned from the roads for five years.

Caroline Hough, 45, of School Field, Bamber Bridge, was behind the wheel of a black Vauxhall Zafira when the collision occurred, on her street, on June 25.

She pleaded guilty to drink driving at Preston Magistrates’ Court, which was told she had 154 microgrammes of alcohol in her breath when a test was performed.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

The bench described the incident as “ akin to dangerous” and imposed a 16 week jail term, suspended for two years.

She was also given 200 hours of unpaid work and an alcohol treatment requirement.

In addition, Hough was ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
