Arrest made after man left fighting for his life following serious Euxton crash which saw car smash into stone wall

A man was left fighting for his life after a car smashed into a stone wall in Euxton.

A BMW 320d travelling towards Chorley on Dawbers Lane left the road before colliding with a stone wall at around 9.50pm on Monday (July 18).

Two men were in the vehicle at the time.

One of the men – aged in his 20s – was taken to hospital where he remained in “critical condition” on Wednesday (July 20).

The second man – also aged in his 20s – suffered injuries which police said were “thought to be minor”.

A 26-year-old man from Chorley was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was later released under investigation.

Sgt Helen Parkinson, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are now working to establish the full circumstances of what led to the collision.

“Perhaps you saw the vehicle in the moments before the collision, or saw the collision itself? Or maybe you have dashcam or CCTV footage which can help us?

“If you can help, please get in touch.”
