Armed police raid house

The firearms team swooped on the property in Ashworth Street, Avenham in an operation believed to be connected to a drugs investigation.

No-one was arrested and it is nnot thought any drugs or firearms were found at the address.

One eye-witness said: “There were lots of police with guns in the street. It was quite alarming.”

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “We carried out a search at an address in Preston. Officers visited Ashworth Street as part of a pre-planned exercise.

“Police searched the property. No arrests were made.”
