70 catalytic converters stolen from vehicles around Lancashire
Around catalytic convertors have been stolen from vehicles in Lancashire since August last year, including two from cars parked at a Preston shopping park yesterday.
Drivers have been warned to 'keep vigilant' following the recent theft at Deepdale Retail Park.
A Lancashire police spokesman said: "Did you know that since last August, there have been around 70 catalytic convertors stolen from vehicles around the county? Just yesterday, two were stolen from cars parked at Deepdale Retail Park in Preston whilst their owners were busy.
"We are asking people to be vigilant and if you see someone doing work on a car and suspect something isn’t quite right, please call us."
To protect their vehicles, people are advised to park them in a locked garage if possible. If not, people should park in a busy, well-lit area close to their home.
People can also attach a Thatcham approved alarm to their cars, which will activate if the car is lifted or tilted.
