'Preston is such a brilliant, vibrant city'- coffee shop chain Coffee Boy to open on Fishergate

Last week, two separate planning applications were submitted to Preston City Council for 45 Fishergate, which had been a Derian House charity store for five years up until its closure in 2025.

The first was for external alterations including the relocation of the entrance door to the front elevation and the installation of an altered shopfront

The second was then for the installation of illuminated fascia signage, an illuminated circular logo sign, digital display screens (set within the front and side glazing), an illuminated projecting (blade) sign and one vinyl graphic all to the front elevation.

Both plans suggest a new firm is set to open up shop in the site and indeed the planning drawings reveal that shop is due to be a coffee shop chain called Coffee Boy.

The applications have both been submitted by Coffee Boy, sometimes stylised as Coffeeboy, whilst the brand’s logo is visible on all the plan drawings.

Approached by the Post, Coffee Boy confirmed their intentions to open on Fishergate very soon and you can find out all about them below.

What did Coffee Boy say?

A spokesperson told the Post: “We can confirm that Coffee Boy is coming to 45 Fishergate, Preston, and we are so excited about it. We’ve submitted our planning applications to Preston City Council and are busy working through all the permissions needed to get the space looking and feeling exactly how we want it.

“As for the land/premises — yes, we’ve secured the site and are now seeking the necessary approvals to make the changes required. We don't have an opening date as yet, but it's expected to be around mid to late May. We’re bringing great coffee, good vibes, and great jobs to the city. But what is Coffee Boy?

Coffee Boy is a modern coffee brand created in Yorkshire in 2014 offering a variety of food and drinks.

It currently has five branches across Yorkshire and one in Glasgow so the Preston branch will be the first not only in Lancashire but the whole North West.
