The self-confessed celebrity spotter from Chorley has tasked himself with getting as many stars to autograph the shirt ready to raise funds for the charity which supports children with terminal illnesses or life limiting conditions. So far 10 celebrities have signed the T-shirt: Tony Robinson; EastEnders actor Scott Maslen; Spencer Wilding (Darth Vader in Rogue One); comedian Steve Royle; footballer Colin Hendry; CBeebies star Katy Ashworth; celebrity chef Dean Edwards; comedian Ted Robbins, Ranuph Fiennes and Eric Bristow. The 50-year-old said: “I have been meeting celebrities for the last 30 years by going to comic cons and events. “I live near Derian House and so I asked bosses for a T-shirt to get people to sign to help raise funds. So far 10 celebrities have signed it.“I have asked a few more - some say yes and some say no. Most people are okay if you ask politely.“I hope to get two or three T-shirts signed. I plan to meet 10 more celebrities over the next month. Whether or not they sign the shirt is up to them.”Mick, a Stagecoach bus driver, added he has met countless celebrities over the last 30 years, including Sir Roger Moore and Red Dwarf actors Chris Barrie and Danny John Jules. He recalled: “I have only been star struck twice - once was in London when I met Burt Reynolds and the second time was when I met Katherine Jenkins at a CD signing in Manchester. "At the beginning of the year I met David Soul and Paul Michael Glaser aka Starsky at Hutch at the Liverpool Comic Con. David was in a wheelchair for some reason and Paul was more interested in looking at his phone than paying more notice to the paying public who were paying £30 an autograph. “There is a lot of hanging around and queuing just to spend a few quick minutes with someone, but I enjoy it.”Mick plans to donate the T-shirts back to Derian House to auction them off during the charity’s December fund-raiser event. To keep up to date on Mick’s progress, check out Stars Sign For Derian House Children’s Hospice on Facebook.
