Choir grows after success

A NEW choir is to be launched in Longridge after the success of a similar singing group in Garstang.

Choirmaster David Kennedy, who already runs Choir 1 Garstang, is set to launch Choir 1 Longridge in January.

He is encouraging members of the community to come along and take part in the choral project and says anyone can join, even those who have not sung before.

He said: “There is no audition to join – everyone is welcome. The sessions are very uplifting and many people mention how they are a perfect stress buster as well!”

The new group will have the opportunity to learn from a diverse songbook, adding: “The choir will sing a diverse selection of contemporary and uplifting songs from The Jacksons to Jazz Spirituals, from Bill Withers to Take That.”

The choir will meet in the church hall of Christchurch Methodist Church (entrance to the hall is on Chapel street off Berry Lane) each week on a Monday evening between 7.30 and 9pm.

The first taster session is on Monday January 11 and will be free of charge.

There will be 10 sessions over the school term costing £5 per session.

Choir 1 Garstang meets each Tuesday during term time at Wesleys, Garstang Methodist Church at 7.30pm.

Thei final meeting of the year is the Christmas session on Tuesday December 15.

The group will be performing a selection of carols and popular Christmas songs, followed by minced pies and nonalcoholic mulled wine.
