Car catches fire after crash near Leyland garden centre

A road has been closed after a car burst into flames following a crash this afternoon (April 28).

Emergency services rushed to the scene in Birkacre Road at around 3.45pm.

One person has reportedly suffered a suspected broken arm, police said.

The road has been shut in both directions while the fire service attended and motorists have been advised to avoid the area.

"We are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision involving a car on fire on Birkacre Road," a spokesman for Lancashire Police said.

"The road is currently closed near to Birkacre Garden Centre while the fire service attend."
