Canal barge gets stuck on river bank

One person was aboard the barge at the time of the incident, which happened at Savick Brook.

A spokesperson for the Coastguard said: “It was all done with pretty quickly.

“In the end, the Preston Marina were able to assist to free the vessel and tie it up again.”

The spokesperson did not know how the barge came to get stuck, but added: “It could possibly be the weather.

“The wind is quite high there.”

No-one was injured.
