Butcher creates '˜Full English' banger

A Pendle dad-of-three has invented a fry-up you can rustle up in flash - after creating a 'Full English Sausage'.

John Hutchinson came up with the idea of a big breakfast banger after he woke up with a hangover and cooked himself up a full English, but then stood in dismay as he eyed-up the pile of washing up.

The 44-year-old said that it was such a hassle cooking bacon, black pudding, sausages, baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and a fried egg that he decided he wanted to create “something simple”.

John, who used to work in a butcher’s shop when he was a lad, said the idea came to him “in a flash” as he sat staring at the washing up after cooking himself a big fry up.

The former social worker decided then and there to create his own banger with all the ingredients - apart from the egg - crammed in.

He spoke to his brother Miles, who runs Hutchinson’s Pie Shop in Barnoldswick, and created the all in one banger.

The ingenious dad rustled up the ingredients - all locally-sourced - and the Full English Sausage, was created.

John said: “I was a little bit worse for wear one morning and was sat staring at a full English breakfast and I just thought about how everything went together so well.

“I thought putting it all in a sausage would mean less faff - and less washing up.”

He has even added a string of other gourmet bangers to his name - and is known and the “Willy Wonka of the sausage world” by customers.

Among his other creations include the “Americano” - with bacon and maple syrup - as well as a chilli con carne banger and a green Thai curry sizzler.

John added: “I had the knowledge and experience as I used to work in a butcher’s shop when I was a lad, so I just thought I’d move things on a bit - everyone loves a sausage.

“I use locally-sourced ingredients and don’t just sling in some powder to season them, I do it all properly.

“I will keep coming up with unusual flavours because it keeps the customers happy.”

Customer Richard Davies (28) said: “I saw the Full English sausage on sale last week and couldn’t believe my luck.

“It was like all my dreams had come true - all I need to do is fry or grill a few sausages and throw in an egg at the last minute and I’ve got a full English without the hassle or washing up.

“It’s incredible - but it goes to show, the simplest ideas are the best.”
