The £40m project was due to be discussed by Preston Council’s planning committee at a meeting on Thursday, where it had been recommended for refusal by planning officers.
However, Town Hall chiefs today confirmed the application had been withdrawn.

The plans included a three-storey extension to the centre, incorporating restaurants, a nine-screen cinema, and extra retail units, as well as alterations to the car park.

They had been recommended for refusal, after planning bosses said the cinema proposals could undermine over-arching plans for the city centre.

The Fishergate Centre is yet to comment.
