Members of the Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team, who are all volunteers, were called to the incident, together with the North West Ambulance Service, shortly before 2pm.

The incident happened in woods next to Duxbury Golf Club.

Team leader Kevin Camplin said: “We got a call by the ambulance service at about 2pm.

“It was an extraction of a 13-year-old young lad who had tripped and fallen and potentially broken his left leg.
