Bookies slash odds of summer snow

Bookmakers have slashed the odds of snow falling in June or July after the Met Office warned of potential snow.

As cooler air starts to descend over the UK the bookies now rate it a 3/1 shot that snowflakes will fall anywhere in the country in June or July this year. The odds have also been cut into 5/1 (from 8/1) that summer 2016 enters the record books as the coldest ever.

A tweet from the official Met Office Twitter account said: “Cooler air means we could see snow on the tops of the Scottish mountains over the next few days.”

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “The temperature drop has left us with no choice but to offer odds on snowfall in June and July for the first ever time.”
