The city’s first ever blow-dry bar is doing a roaring trade in Fishergate.

Walk into ‘Simply Blow Bar’ on a busy Saturday afternoon and you will find groups of girls chatting and enjoying cocktails while having their hair and make-up done.

But unlike other salons the clients won’t be getting their hair cut or dyed, because the place only offers blow drys.

The concept started in LA, where actress Gwyneth Paltrow owns her own blow-dry only salon. There are similar salons around the country but the salon is a first for Preston.

Manager Olivia Stringfellow said: “A girl can be running around town and quickly pop in to get her hair and make-up done, without giving it a second thought.

“I wanted the experience to be different to that of your typical salon experience by making it quick, fun and cost effective, without compromising on quality or having to ‘cheat’ on your hairdresser.”

As well as blow dry’s, the salon offers hair styling, make-up, nails, lashes and threading - but stops short at cuts and dyes.

Pricing is dependent on time and not hair length, but Olivia says the average price is around £15.

Opening times are Monday to Wednesday 8am till 6pm, and Thursday to Saturday 8am till 7pm.
