Natasha Parrott, 30, of Riley Green near Hoghton, said she felt compelled to help after hearing about the atrocities on Monday night.

She said: “I have a bear my mum gave me as a baby and that bear means the world to me.

“It will never replace what they have lost, but it will be something to cuddle and will show that we are all thinking of them.

“I have a niece and a Godson, and I don’t know what I’d do if something happened to them.”

Natasha, who works for Regus on Preston Docks, has agreed a 30 per cent discount for the bears with Build a Bear at the Trafford Centre, but is appealing for £239 to cover the costs.

She said: “They usually won’t give discounts unless you’re a registered charity, and I’m just an ordinary person, but because of the cause, they’ve wanted to help.

“The bears have been made and any money I don’t manage to raise, I will personally cover.

“Each one of them will be wearing a a superhero t-shirt because these families are the real superheroes.”
