“I was really unaware of this serious condition and its effects. I felt that I needed to do something to spread awareness and to help raise funds for the charity.

“That’s when I came across the London to Paris bike ride and decided to take on the challenge myself.”

Barry with the support of family and friends has already beat his target of £1,500, raising £2115 so far.

He is currently on a break in Spain, recovering from the four-day, 344 mile, gruelling bike ride.

“He’s certainly not gone in to this half-heartedly and this is testimony to his character – spirited and dedicated.
