Bar staff tackle heater fire

Bar staff took matters into their own hands when a group of rowdy patrons started a fire inside a Bamber Bridge public house.

Firefighters from Bamber Bridge were called to Station Road at around 8.30pm yesterday to reports that a group of people had attempted to start a fire on top of an artificial heater and then fled the scene.

However, when crews arrived at the scene they found the blaze had already been extinguished by bar staff.

Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to check for anyremaining hot spots in the property before leaving the scene at around 9pm.
