Baking's a piece of cake for Hannah
The 41-year-old last year worked as part of a team to create the Rocky Horror Sugar Show, and is now working as part of Sugar Show Productions to create a circus-themed display.
Hannah, who set up Crafnant Cakes, will be one of 20 people creating the Cake Carnival, after her cupcakes won gold at her first Cake International.
Among the edible treats created will be a ghost - a piece of edible wall art made from cupcakes, a circus poster based on the Giffords Circus, and a model tea cup ride made from sugar that spins at speed.
Hannah said: “I started making cakes for my children’s birthdays.
“I’m self-taught and I started getting more and more interested in it, and decided to enter a class in Manchester at Cake International and got a gold medal.
“Just through that and by speaking to people, I got asked to be involved last year in Birmingham at Cake International, in a collaboration to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Rocky Horror Sugar Show.
There were a lot of figures and I did the leopard.
“There were 40 artists, some were world-class sugar artist, and I was helping to do that.
“This year I’ve been asked back to Cake International in Birmingham and London and back to Birmingham to do another exhibition.
“We’re doing a carnival and haunted house and things.
“It’s a little small business and cake artist getting involved with the big boys.”
Hannah, who used to work as cabin crew before setting up her business and working part time in a food shop, said: “I’m really looking forward to it.
“It’s quite a stressful time though, because we have deadlines to get the work done.”
