Burnley Asda manager Tahira Widlof walked away with the special accolade which celebrates an outstanding woman of achievement who, the judges feel, most exemplifies the values and aspirations of the awards.

Tahira has worked for Asda for 25 years, including 11 years spent at Asda House in Leeds.

Tahira said: “It was such an honour to be nominated alongside such high-achieving women but to be recognised with the Chairman’s award has left me shell-shocked. It was such a wonderful evening to be a part of and this award was a huge surprise.

“Representing Asda is an absolute honour and I must thank everyone, from colleagues in stores to those in Asda House, for supporting me.

“I look forward to continuing to represent Asda in the Women of the Future network and attending events, which offer the opportunity to meet like-minded, high achieving women and build business contacts.”

Steven Hislop, senior director North West at Asda, said: “Tahira is an excellent role model to everyone here at Asda.

“We’re all so proud of Tahira – this recognition is an amazing achievement and is thoroughly deserved. Tahira has made a huge contribution over the last 25 years.”
