Armed police search Plungington area in Preston for two wanted men on Christmas Day

An area of Plungington was closed off as police officers searched for two wanted men yesterday.

Part of Blackpool Road at the junctions with Garstang Road and Plungington Road had been closed by police.

The incident started at around 11am where a number of road closures in the area were in place. It is believed armed police were at the scene.

Police did not given details on the two wanted men they are searching for.

All roads reopened at around 4pm yesterday afternoon.

A statement from police said: "Thank you for your patience, all road closures on Blackpool Road, Preston, have now been lifted.

"We have been dealing with an incident where a wanted person was believed to have been located.

"We understand the disruption and concern our presence may have caused but thank you for your assistance."
