£2k reward to catch dangerous robber

A £2,000 reward is on offer for the capture of an armed robber who went missing from Kirkham open prison.

Fugitive Alan Brogan, 30, was jailed for eight years in 2009 alongside an accomplice after they stormed their way inside houses in Preston armed with axes and knives, attacking and assaulting the occupants.

He, and an accomplice, also stole a till from Blackpool’s Jaggy Thistle Pub in 2010, only to dump it once they realised it was empty.

He was sentenced for wounding with intent, aggravated burglary, robbery, theft and possession of a prohibited weapon.

He was given a further eight year sentence in 2010 – to run alongside his original sentence – for the unlawful possession of a gun and ammunition.

Brogan, who has links to Blackpool, escaped Kirkham in October, but police have so far been unable to find him.

Gary Murray, north west regional manager for Crimestoppers, said: “Brogan has been on the run for over four months and he must be found to serve the rest of his long sentence.

“The public are advised not to approach him if they see him, and in an emergency always call the police, but if you want to remain anonymous and know of his whereabouts, please contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online.

“I can assure you nobody will know you contacted us.”

DC David Kerigan, from Lancashire Police, said in October, when Brogan first disappeared: “If anyone has seen Alan Brogan, I would urge them to let us know.

“We are advising the public not to approach him but to contact the police instead.”

He was described as being 6ft 1ins tall with light coloured hair, blue eyes and of slim build.

He has a distinctive tattoo on his right forearm of the word ‘Brogan’.
