Another popular store confirmed for St George’s Shopping Centre: where, when & what is it
A clothing brand is returning to Preston after more than 14 years.
British retailer Peacocks is currently preparing to open in the former Select store on the corner of the centre’s Friargate entrance.
The Preston branch of Select Fashion was one of 35 amongst the country which closed in March 2025.

Empty for over a year, the unit is now under development to reopen as Peacocks, whose previously unit in St George’s Shopping Centre closed in 2012.
The firm, who currently own 350 stores across the UK confirmed the news with us yesterday.
The Peacocks store will be adjacent to the new Bon Marche which was announced last month as well.
Due to be located at 103-109 Friaragte, the new Bon Marche store represents a return to Preston for the brand, their former St George’s branch having closed in 2019.

IM Group Services, who provide the management of St George's also shared that both fashion retailers are preparing for the same opening day of Wednesday, May 28.
A spokesperson from IM Group said: “The owners of St Georges Shopping Centre are very pleased to welcome the return of renowned high street fashion brand Peacocks to the shopping centre.
“Alongside returning brand Bon Marche, and existing brands H&M & Marks & Spencer the opening of both Peacocks and Bon Marche on the 28th May will seek to establish St Georges as the centre for fashion within the city centre.
“With a number of new lettings under negotiation, the centre remains a priority for the owners continued investment.”
The arrival of two new fashion stores at St George’s come just weeks after Costa opened up their second store in the Adnan Group owned site too.
The popular coffee chain, who already have a store at 16 Fishergate, opened in the former Patisserie Valerie on Friargate on April 10.
The arrival of three new stores in St George’s will be welcome news to Prestonians.

Last month, we shared how the site was facing criticism both due to its occupancy issues and some facility issues too- an escalator, a lift and a disabled toilet were out of order.
Alongside confirming the news of Peacock’s arrival, IM Management also told the Post that all the issues reported have now been attended to with all the escalators, lifts and disabled toilets being back in working order.
At the time of our previous article, IM Management also teased various other new store openings and they have now promised us that these lettings will be announced in due course.
Amongst these new tenants will be two more fashion retailers, a perfume operator, a health and beauty store, a gym and another coffee chain.
