Aldi had revealed plans for a new food store in a Southport village.
The discounter retailer says the proposals for the new site - at Sandbrook Road in Ainsdale - will transform the brownfield site and create 40 new, full-time equivalent jobs.

Aldi is preparing a planning application for submission to Sefton Council and has launched a consultation to hear from the the community. The consultation includes an online feedback form and runs until Thursday, March 19.
According to the consultation, the closest Aldi store to the site is currently located in Birkdale and is ‘increasingly busy’.

A spokesperson for Aldi said: "We're delighted to announce our plans for a new food store at this site in Ainsdale.
“This is an ideal site for a new Aldi food store, which would significantly improve the local retail options available to residents in the community and transform this brownfield site.
“We’d like to encourage all those in the local area to let us know what they think about our plans and look forward to working with residents and stakeholders to deliver a new Aldi food store for the area.”
Aldi is aiming to submit a planning application to Sefton Council in the coming months for consideration, following an extensive community consultation process.
