Issuing a joint statement to their beloved customers on the pub’s business page they said: “After 34 years we are finally closing the door on our home and family run business, The Dog Inn, Whalley.

“Chris and I have continued to maintain the ambience created here by my husband Norman, since he passed away just over three years ago.

“He was hospitable (which is what this business is all about). He was lively, kind, generous and fun! He created this unique place in this wonderful old building which we called home and which has become the heart of Whalley.”

They added: “We have shared happy, hilarious and sad times here at The Dog Inn with very many people. There have been BOFs trips, Race Trips, Open Mic Nights, Village Events, Chamber of Trade Dinners, Jubilee Celebrations and Burns' Nights and many Charity Fundraising Events and Quizzes.

“Chris and I would like to thank all our customers and friends for all their support and kindness over the years.

“Very special thanks and appreciation must go to our very loyal staff some of whom have been with us for so many years - through thick and thin.

“Lee will be taking over in Mid-July, and I feel sure you will all support him as you have done us since 1992.

“All our love and best wishes to you all

“Christine and Chris.”

The pair are also selling off some items from the pub. For more information head over to the Facebook page.
