Heroin and cocaine dealers caged for almost 10 years for selling drugs in Nelson

Abid Ashraf, 48, and Amir Shah, 29, were arrested after a warrant was carried out at an address on Regent Street in June

Two men have been sentenced to almost 10 years in prison after being found guilty of possession of heroin and cocaine with intent to supply, in Nelson.

Abid Ashraf, 48, of Barkerhouse Road, was sentenced to five years and seven months, and Amir Shah, 29, of Valley Close, was sentenced to four years, when they appeared at Burnley Crown Court.

The two men were arrested after a warrant was carried out at an address on Regent Street in June. Inside the property, officers found what they suspected were Class A drugs and scales, and some cash was also seized.

Sergeant Carl McCoy of the Pendle Prosper Partnership Team said: “The supply and use of Class A controlled drugs brings criminality and misery to our communities. We take all reports of drug-dealing seriously and will investigate thoroughly so that offenders will face justice.”

Operation Warrior is Lancashire Police’s response to tackling serious and organised crime in Lancashire, supported by Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw.

It aims to target the individuals and gangs involved in crime, as well as associated issues such as violence and intimidation, large scale drug supply, exploitation, and fraud, all of which can cause serious harm to local communities.
