A LEVEL RESULTS: Hutton Grammar School

Hutton Grammar School is celebrating another year of outstanding results - with some sixth formers pulling off exceptional feats.

The overall pass rate stands at 96 per cent, with 72 per cent of grades being awarded at A* - C and just under half of all grades were the top grades of A*-B meaning one in five grades was either an A* or A.

Alex Jones and Cameron Kenworthy both achieved five A Level passes. Cameron got an A* in maths and A in further maths, physics and chemistry and a B in general studies as well as passing his Extended Project Qualification with a project on the impact of nanotechnology on medicine. He now hopes to continue his studies at Edinburgh. Alex secured his five grades in mathematics, further maths, biology, chemistry and general studies.

Hard on theri heeels was Ben Coombe with three A* grades in economics, English Literature and law and a B in general studies and he hopes to be moving on to study Law at Manchester.

Katie Lee, Jake Piela-Lee and Adam Robinson all achieved two A* grades, 1 A and 1 B each. Katie’s top grades were in geography and law, Jake’s in politics and general studies and Adam’s in English literature and general studies. Other students who have been recognised for exceptional performances are Chris Adamson, Alice Dockerill and Eve Hood (A* in mathematics), Paul Davis and Olivia Dodding (law) and Nikhil Mali (biology).

Headteacher David Pearson said: ‘We always aim to challenge and inspire all our students. It is very pleasing to note that they have been able to achieve above and beyond their expectations on a wide range of courses that cater for different interests and abilities.

“This year’s excellent set of results represent the quality of teaching as well as the environment and facilities that sixth form students enjoy at Hutton.
