999 call-out was a 'false alarm'

Firefighters were called out to a sounding smoke alarm at a property in Westway, Freckleton at 4.38pm today.

But when the Lytham crew arrived they learned it had activated by smoke from cooking, a spokesman for the Lancashire Fire and Rescue service said.

The incident was a described as a 'false alarm with good intent' and the matter was closed.
