70-year-old man killed after car hit kerb and overturned

The man, from Longton, was travelling in his Nissan X-Trail north along Liverpool Old Road, Much Hoole, at around 10.30am and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for three hours to conduct an investigation but has now reopened.

Sgt James Power of the Road Policing Unit said: “This is a tragic incident and I would like to offer my condolences to the family and friends of the man who sadly died.

“We are still establishing how this collision occurred and I would appeal to anyone who saw what happened and has not yet spoken to us to get in touch.”
