The ballroom is illuminated by 14 magnificent crystal chandeliers, all made from hand-cut Italian crystals and dating back to the Edwardian period.
Two of the largest fixtures weigh an impressive one tonne each and are lowered by hand, with four experienced specialists working together to guide them safely into position.
The remaining 12 chandeliers weigh around 500kg apiece and receive the same level of expert care.
Cleaning the chandeliers is a labour of precision and patience.
Each fixture takes up to a week to dust, polish and inspect by hand, with every crystal cleaned individually.
In total, 1,120 LED bulbs are checked to ensure they are shining at their best before the chandeliers are returned to their lofty place above the dance floor.
An institution in the world of ballroom dancing, the Blackpool Tower Ballroom hosts competitions and events throughout the year and attracts around one million visitors annually from across the globe, all drawn by its history, elegance and unmistakable atmosphere.
