Ribble Valley tai chi sessions to mark Lancashire health day
Every morning, parks and public areas in China come alive to thousands of people, some dressed for a day in the office, undertaking a series of stretches and moves called tai chi.
Now Ribble Valley residents can take part in public tai chi sessions on Friday, May 18, as part of a county wide health day – Your Mile Your Way.
Ribble Valley Council is hosting a series of events throughout the day, aimed at encouraging people of all ages and fitness levels to take part in physical activity and log a mile by walking, running, swimming, rowing, or cycling.
As part of the day a tai chi session is being held at John Smiths Playing Fields in Chaigley Road after a one mile walk starting in Longridge at 11am.
The council’s health and fitness officer, Tracy Balko, said: “We run many activities and programmes in the borough to help people lose weight and get fitter, some of which we will be showcasing during the health day.
“The day will be a great way to kick start your keep fit programme and what better way to cap it off than with a tai chi session in two of Ribble Valley’s most beautiful parks.”
A tai chi session is also being held at Clitheroe Castle Bandstand, starting at 6pm.
