"The last five years have been a rollercoaster to say the least and although it’s certainly had its challenges, we have loved getting to know each and every one of our customers.

"Many of you have watched our children grow and have been a big part of their daily lives and we cannot thank you all enough for the support and guidance we’ve received over the years."

Why are they leaving?

Anthony, who also runs No. 16 On The Hill in Liverpool Road, Penwortham, "wholeheartedly" thanked his Finney team, and said the decision had been partly influenced by difficult trading conditions, including the impact of the pandemic and increased running costs.

What’s next?

Anthony added: "We are pleased to confirm that the pub will continue to serve this wonderful community and will reopen following a refurbishment, with the majority of our current team smiling from behind the bar, eager to welcome you back under new management."
