Plans have been lodged to turn Mezzo on the A59 near Samlesbury Hall into a hub for small and start-up businesses.

The scheme would retain the existing kitchens as an independent food delivery service.

But the remainder of the roadside restaurant, previously called the Halfway House, would be sub-divided into office units, with conference rooms and a manned reception.

The idea is for small businesses to share the the cost of facilities and services, including meeting rooms, but still have their own office areas.

A report to the council’s planning committee says the separate food business would not involve collections, only deliveries.

The plans would not include extending the property in any way, nor the construction of any additional buildings.
