Garstang food hygiene ratings revealed for 14 local businesses in 2026

Food hygiene officers have been inspecting businesses across Wyre to ensure that the highest food standards are being maintained.

During the first eight months of 2026, 171 businesses that handle food and drink in the Wyre district were visited and handed up-to-date ratings based on their performance.

In that time, 68 businesses achieved the highest rating of five (’very good’) and a further 49 businesses achieved a rating of four (’good’), while 33 businesses were handed the score of three (’generally satisfactory’).

However, a further 21 businesses were issued a rating of two or below, meaning that ‘improvement is necessary’ before the next inspection.

Of those businesses inspected, 14 were in the Garstang area, with 12 food businesses achieving a rating of four or five, with only two scoring less.

Inspectors assess businesses on three main elements, including how hygienically food is handled, the physical condition of the business and how food safety is managed.
