The doors have reopened at the city’s former Wetherspoon, The Grey Friar, which is now operating as an independent pub.
Manager Bradley Hollingsworth, who also ran the pub in its past life as a Wetherspoon, welcomed customers back this morning after the boozer reopened under an independent operator – Friar Limited – a group taking on former Wetherspoons pubs across the region.
At first sight, nothing much appears to have changed under the rebrand, but the Grey Friar boasts a new drinks range - with Mahou lager on draft, and Beavertown’s Neck Oil among the more than 100 drinks available.
And for its opening month, John Smith’s, Fosters and Strongbow will be only £2 a pint.
Customers can also look forward to a new food menu with daily deals - including pizza and a drink (Tuesday, £7.95), curry and a drink (Wednesday, £9.45) and burger and a drink (Thursday, £8.50).
