8,000 apply for Preston bus lane ticket refunds
And officers say they are working through a pile of 6,500 more from motorists who have asked for a refund.
The 8,000 applications represent only around a quarter of the 30,000 hit by fixed penalty notices during the four months the bus lane was in force. The deadline for claiming has been extended to May 10.
Daniel Herbert, LCC highways manager said: “We are working through requests for refunds as quickly as we can. This process takes up to eight weeks. We are on course to process them all within the eight-week timescale. While we’re not currently using cameras to enforce them, the restrictions remain in place.”
The refunds follow a ruling by the Traffic Penalty Tribunal.
