5 things you should know about Lancashire Encounter
1. What is lancashire encounter?
It’s a three-day arts and culture festival which will be returning to Preston from tomorrow.
There was a pilot of the event last year and it was hailed a success.

Hide AdNow the organisers are back with more performances and installations taking over the city centre.
2. When and where is it happening?
The fun kicks off from tomorrow evening in Preston city centre.
First up will be Chutney in the Street, a vibrant music and dance performance inspired by Indo-Caribbean culture.
Expect story-telling and audience participation,
That starts on the Flag Market from 7pm.
Head on over to the Guild Hall at 7.30pm for an evening of songs and stories from the Traveller community of Lancashire performed by Tom McCarthy, Leroy Lupton, Ben Farmer and friends. Best of all, it’s free.

Hide AdMeanwhile. Surgeon’s Court will be filled with thousands of red balloons from 7pm, and as twilight falls abuot 7.45pm, there will be a mass performance on the Flag Market called Light Migrations.
3. What about saturday?
There will be plenty ging on: here are just a few of the events.
St George’s Shopping Centre will be offering free tango lessons on its top floor from 2pm on Saturday.
Ham and Jam cafe on Lancaster Road will be showcasing a Deafway exhibition of stories from local deaf people.

Hide AdSaturday will culiminate in a huge Procession of Light, involving 26 community groups, starting at the Adelphi roundabout from 8pm.
4. and sunday?
Guild Hall Street will be hosting Puppet Improv performances at 1.15pm and 3.30pm.
There’s a big Community Expo on the Flag Market from 12pm-5pm with music, dance and food.
