When the nation's political titans visited Lancashire in pictures

With a muted political party season under way take a look through the archives to the days when the nation’s biggest politicians would head to Lancashire

This year’s political party conferences have been held online due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But for generations the nation’s heavyweight politicians would descend on Lancashire for their annual jamboree.

Most years the traditional autumn get-together would see one of the major political parties setting up camp at the Winter Gardens, in Blackpool, to outline policies and give members a chance to rub shoulders with their party’s leading lights.

As many as 20 past, present or future Conservative and Labour Prime Ministers have headed to the Lancashire seaside to address delegates and the wider nation.
