For the first time ever, all the fun and frolic of the annual children's festival was visited by the first mayor of Wyre Council, Coun Basil MacGregory, and the first mayor of the new Garstang Town Council, Coun Jonathon Greenhow

Hours after being called out to the aid of a broken down hovercraft, men from Lytham lifeboat were in action again - demonstrating their equipment to the public. The demonstration by lifeboatmen from Lytham, Blackpool and Fleetwood at Fairhaven Lake was to raise money for the RNLI.
