13. Alex Neil
Alex Neil was appointed as manager of Preston North End in 2017, replacing Simon Grayson, who left the club to take over as manager of Sunderland. His was a steady but largely unsuccessful reign. 14. Frankie McAvoy
Frankie McAvoy was named as interim head coach of Preston until the end of the 2020–21 season, following the dismissal of Alex Neil in March 2021. And in May 2021, he was appointed head coach permanently, after winning five of his eight matches in interim charges.
