We've delved into our archives to dust off some snapshots of six of the city's most famous sportsmen as fresh-faced hopefuls. (Spoiler alert: it shouldn't be too difficult!)
1.
Mark Lawrenson enjoyed a storied career with Preston North End and Liverpool before becoming a respected TV pundit.
2.
This snap was taken in 1992, just before his cricketing career really got into Top Gear. Aged 15 when this picture was taken he went on to become one of England's greatest ever all-rounders.
3.
Preston's finest cricketing export, Andrew Flintoff, was England's Ashes hero in 2005. Since retiring he was developed a television career and now presents Top Gear.
4.
The cheeky chappie on the left hand side of the photograph is a regular on screen these days as one of television's more thoughtful and articulate pundits. He's pictured here in 1988 being presented with trophies for his St Gregory's school football by team by PNE great Mick Baxter (back row, second right).
