9. Miller Arcade
There's no surprise that Miller Arcade is considered one of Preston's nicest buildings. Standing proud as a Grade II listed Victorian building, Miller Arcade has many grand period features. Step inside where you will find ornate tiling, vintage shop fronts and high glass-panelled ceilings. The building's bygone charm makes it easy to imagine what it was like 100 years ago Photo: Neil Cross

10. Preston Town Hall
Although it doesn't hold the grandeur that the former Town Hall held, the current Town Hall in Preston is a fine structure and a Grade II listed building. The neoclassical style makes it fit perfectly with the other grand buildings seated close by Photo: Ian Robinson

11. County Hall
County Hall on Fishergate is home to Lancashire County Council. Perhaps surprising is that this Victorian building doesn't have listed status. It is an imposing red brick structure that has sat opposite Preston Railway Station since is was built in 1882 Photo: Neil Cross

12. St Joseph's Orphanage
Sadly this beautiful building was left derelict for nearly 20 years and those years took their toll. But in its glory days St Joseph's Orphanage and Mount Street Hospital made for a grand complex. Much of that beauty has now been demolished following a devastating fire last year. Some parts were retained though and the building is now being transformed into luxury homes Photo: Archive
