Supercentenarians: how many people in Lancashire are aged over 110-years-old and what is the county's average supercentenarian age?

The county has six residents aged over 110 - the 10th highest number in Britain - with an average age of 111.2 years, according to a study by care home company, Lottie.

London took the top spot with 25 members of this golden group, despite having a slightly lower average supercentenarian age at almost 111 (110.8).

While the national average life expectancy is around 81 years, some 239 Brits have had birthdays over 110. Some 224 (93.7%) were females while only 15 (6.3%) were male.

Meanwhile, the number of people aged over 100 in the UK has more than doubled in the past 20 years. There were approximately 15,834 centenarians in 2020, equating to 0.02% of the total population. This has soared from 6,615 in 2000.

Just over 19 percent in 2020 were male, with almost 81 percent being female.
