Some of the key parts of Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS foundation Trust planning application included single-storey extensions, additional car parking spaces, and new fencing.

The site has been the target of vandalism since shutting down, leaving it in need of renovation throughout, documents revealed.

A therapy garden and children’s visitor garden will be also created and the facility will provide accommodation for 28 patients and dozens of staff.
