Preston GP is new CCG health boss

Dr Sumantra Mukerji will take over as chairman and clinical leader, following Dr Dinesh Patel’s retirement from the role.

Dr Mukerji graduated in India before becoming a member of the Royal College of Physicians and then a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

He is now a GP in Stonebridge Surgery, Preston, and works as a GP trainer and a GP appraiser.

He previously worked as a director of Preston Primary Care Centre for two years.

Dr Mukerji said: “My guiding principles as a GP Director for Greater Preston CCG have been to improve equity of access to care, increasing capacity within primary care and reducing health inequalities.

“I look forward to being able to continue striving towards these aims in my position as chair of Greater Preston CCG.”

Jan Ledward, chief officer of Greater Preston CCG said: “I would like to welcome Dr Mukerji to his new role as chair and clinical lead of the CCG, he is a well-known, and well-respected GP in the Greater Preston area and I look forward to working closely with him to develop the good work that is already underway.”
