Preston local lockdown: These are the areas that have recorded a spike in new cases of coronavirus

Following yesterday's warning by Preston City Council that cases of coronavirus in the city are on the rise, here is the latest data released by Public Health England revealing the number of confirmed cases in each area of Preston.

Additional Covid-19 restrictions have been in place for almost four weeks, and case numbers had begun to show a considerable decrease last week (week 34).

Now, the latest reported spike casts doubt over any easing of restrictions in the area.

The latest Public Health England (PHE) data taken from the Gov.uk website includes lab confirmed positive cases of Covid-19 reported by September 1, 2020 with a specimen date up to August 30, 2020 (week 35).

Only three areas of Preston recorded three cases or more in the previous week (week 34) between August 17, 2020 to August 23, 2020 - you can read the full data here.

These are the areas of Preston where data has been accurately mapped, from lowest to highest case numbers (Areas with fewer than three cases are now represented as 0-2. Images are for illustration purposes only):
