Coronavirus deaths in Lancashire starting to slow as county hits tragic 1,000 milestone

Lancashire has hit a grim milestone as the number of deaths involving Covid-19 has reached 1,000 - but there are signs the worst may be behind us.

In the week up to May 22 - the most recent covered by the latest Office for National Statistics data - there were 83 deaths linked to the coronavirus. It was the first time in seven weeks the figures was below 100 and half the number seen four weeks earlier.

By May 22, 992 people in Lancashire had died with Covid-19 but confirmed deaths since then have pushed the county's total above 1000. See which areas have seen the most - and fewest - deaths below.
