Oakhill School and Nursery in Wiswell Lane, Whalley, has scooped the Gold Sports Mark Award for engaging children in extra-curricular activities, including golf, volleyball, BMX and badminton.
The government-led School Games Mark rewards schools for taking part in community competitions.
Oakhill’s commitment has seen pupils battle their way to six tournament victories in the past week, landing gold in KS3 mixed orienteering; silver in Year 5 and 6 mixed cricket; silver in Year 5 and 6 quad kids athletics; silver in girls Year 5 and 6 cricket; bronze in Year 3 and 4 quad kids athletics; and the winning spot in senior boys rounders.
Sarah Smith, Head of PE, said: “We are back competing in a huge variety of activities engaging all of our pupils from Reception through to Year 11. This award takes into account the activities we offer during lessons, extra-curricular activities and all of the competitions that we enter.”
